After spending a lot of money on visiting dentists, oral surgeons, and purchasing a dental appliance that was supposed to allow the joint to heal and fix the problem (which it didn't), I decided to try prolo. After three treatments I could open my jaw far enough to actually be able to yawn again! I have become a firm believer in natural medicine and helping your body heal itself, and prolotherapy does just that. Prolo doesn't involve surgery, which means that you can walk out of the office that day and not be laid up for weeks and months recuperating. Besides...prolo works! Read the book to find out why it works and how people are getting rid of their pain and are regaining their mobility. You'll be glad you did.

Transformative Yoga: Five Keys to Unlocking Inner Bliss Review

Transformative Yoga: Five Keys to Unlocking Inner Bliss
Average Reviews:

I'm trained to teach yoga, and I would recommend this book to anyone who's new to yoga or curious about it. I would also recommend it for people who have been doing yoga for years. The book gives a brief history of how the author discovered yoga and strengthened his love for it. It moves into the benefits of yoga, then gives step-by-step instructions on how to do positions complete with pictures of himself in the poses. The book explains what it's like to live a full "yoga" lifestyle. New or curious people could benefit from this book because it lays a good foundation, and he even explains how to go about finding a teacher that suits you. For those who have done yoga for years (like me) this book will take you back to the basics, which was very refreshing to me.

I have Interstitial Cystitis and I think this is a great alternative book for people with IC. Dr. Ripoll and Ms. Mahowald have a very practical, no nonsense, but kind and sensitive approach to the subject of IC and helpful exercise. At first, I was a little intimidated by the thought of doing yoga (I also have no burning desire to stand on my head or anything like that), but the yoga in this book is easy, uncomplicated, and very well laid out for someone who has been in pain for a long time with IC (14 years in my case). There are a lot of hand drawn illustrations (as opposed to some of the more colorful yoga books with photos I've seen, but never bought) which get theidea of each exercise across very well.
I like this book and really do feel more relaxed and less stressed after I do one of their exercise sessions. I would recommend it very highly to anyone with IC (even if they are 54 years young like I am).

This is an excellent book for chronic cystitis sufferers. They love it because it helps with pain and stress.Their doctors love its well-researched background. And, their yoga teachers love its simple, clearly laid out exercises. 'Anyone chronic cystitis should have this book. The section 'Yoga for a Bad Day' has been particularly helpful for me, as repeated attacks of cystitis leave me too exhausted for other types of exercise.' R. L., Student'As one of the first women board certified in Urology, I have, for some time observed that many chronic problems attributed to the bladder (or other pelvic organs) are actually caused or exacerbated by muscle contraction in response to pain. This condition lies beneath the radar of standard medical explanation. Here, at last, is book identifying this problem and offering practical ways for people to help themselves.' Dr. Muriel R. Friedman, MD'This book is highly recommended to people working on healing themselves. It should be required reading for students and teachers of yoga therapy.' Dr. Alakananda Devi, M.B., B.S. Breathworks for Your Back Review

Breathworks for Your Back
Average Reviews:

Ms. Swayzee wrote her book for the lay person, yet you will find that it is not at all simplistic. IF YOU WANT RELIEF FROM LOW BACK PAIN OR IF YOU HAVE A HEALTHY BACK AND YOU WANT TO KEEP IT THAT WAY you must learn how to function, day to day, utilizing a stable trunk. This means, that YOUR UPPER BODY AND LOWER BODY NEED TO LEARN TO STAY TOGETHER AS A SINGLE, STABILIZED, UNIT as you lift, work, carry, etc. This book tells you how to use your inner abdominal muscles to achieve a stable trunk. In my opinion, the critical discovery set forth in this book is the use of forced-expiration breathing to achieve a body stabilizing abdominal contraction. This technique allows instant access to a stable trunk and can therefore be used moment to moment, throughout the day. I use her method constantly all day long. This is the only effective way I know to protect the back during the damaging rigors of everyday life. It allows a person to quickly target the proper abdominal muscles and then to maintain a more powerful, more sustained abdominal contraction when needed. During quieter activities when I am not lifting, pulling, pushing, carrying etc. I maintain a constant 10% to 15% contraction as a matter of routine posture. I look better and I feel better. IN FACT AFTER TWO YEARS OF SERIOUS DAILY LOW BACK PAIN, I FEEL GREAT!! If practiced for a few weeks, this health-preserving technique soon develops into a reflex that becomes automatic. THIS BOOK CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE!

Overpower Pain: The Strength-Training Program that Stops Pain without Drugs or Surgery
Average Reviews:

This book did not deliver what it promised. The first few chapters have excellent information on the many soft tissue imbalances that can cause pain. But most of the book is really a very out-of-date strength training guide for "correcting" these imbalances. Many of the exercises are contraindicated, and don't even address the areas the author suggests they do. The models in the photos (I assume one is the author??) have horrific form, with seemingly no ability to stabilize their spine. Corrective exercise has moved way past this author's theories - in fact, more than 10 years ago, so any good personal training or up-to-date physical therapist could give you far more information than this book. To call it a pain relief method is dangerous - these exercises do not address muscle imbalances, will lead to compensation, over-strengthening of large muscle groups in isolation, and atrophy of the intrinsic support system so key to "overpowering pain". Thumbs Down!

Pain Free: A Revolutionary Method for Stopping Chronic Pain Review

Pain Free: A Revolutionary Method for Stopping Chronic Pain
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Written by an author who has suffered with chronic pain himself, Pain Free: A Revolutionary Method for Stopping Chronic Pain takes a specific stand on why you're hurting and what you should do about it. In a nutshell, the idea is that chronic pain is due to imbalances in the body- mainly those of posture and alignment, which can be corrected through proper motions the book calls "E-cises". Here's a few highlights...
-the book starts you out with three chapters that go over its main ideas
-from there, you go to specific chapters for specific problems (like the foot, the back, the shoulder, etc.)
-you'll find lots of good pictures that do a good job of showing you how to do the exercises
-you don't really need a lot of equipment to do the exercises- mainly some pillows or something to rest your arms and legs on
-there are routines for maintenance, as well as specific sports (like soccer, football, etc.)
Mostly good stuff here, as you can see, and an all around sensible approach I thought. I did find the exercises simple enough, and will probably help relax a lot of pain sufferers to boot.
The negatives? Not many. The only thing I think that might turn off some people, is the time involved- sometimes its recommended you do them for 45 minutes to an hour. But, you get out of it what you put into it.
Worth a good look, I recommend any chronic pain sufferer give them a try. Those with back pain might also be interested in Treat Your Own Spinal Stenosis.

The Permanent Pain Cure Review

The Permanent Pain Cure
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Permanent Pain Cure covers the system that Ming uses to supplement the manual techniques he uses in his physical therapy practice. His methods comprise myofascial stretching and release techniques adapted largely from Guy Voyer, MD, DO and Mike Leahy's Active Release Techniques (ART). This is the only widely available book that I know of that teaches Voyer's myofascial stretching and ELDOA techniques (Ming does not use the term ELDOA, but rather spinal decompression stretches, which is basically what the French acronym ELDOA stands for). While the book does not cover the entire ELDOA and myofascial stretching system, it does teach key stretches that are probably of most benefit to the majority of readers. The ELDOAs that are shown appear to be selected according to the nerve roots that pass through the vertebral segments in question, e.g., delts, biceps, quads, hamstrings, etc.
Many of the myofascial stretches are slightly modified from Guy Voyer's original versions (at least the versions I know). However, I also think some of Ming's modifications are nice improvements. Another reviewer commented on the difficulty of the stretches. Having practiced many of Guy Voyer's stretches for the past three years and having attended his myofascial stretching seminar, I can attest to the difficulty of many of the stretches. This difficulty comes from the fact that many stretches require the simultaneous co-contraction of several muscles to create a properly targeted stretch. Another factor is that for many people, these stretches will target tissues that have never been stretched before, producing considerable resistance from the tight tissue. Consistent practice does make the stretches easier, and the payoff is well worth the effort. Some of the modifications Ming has made to the stretches make them easier to perform and give the user better leverage in some cases.
The middle section of the book covers a strengthening and conditioning program. There is nothing particularly remarkable about this section. It's good solid advice but nothing you can't find elsewhere (unlike the myofascial techniques).
The last section of the book teaches self soft tissue release techniques that are clearly modified from ART. These techniques are fairly easy to perform and in many cases can save the user the hassle and cost of seeking out an ART practitioner for minor issues. They are also excellent self maintenance techniques that can complement ART and other soft tissue work.
Overall, it's an excellent book and covers techniques that are hard to find without traveling to a few specialized (and expensive) seminars. I highly recommend it.

Pain Free for Life: How to Heal Yourself Naturally Without Drugs or Surgery Review

Pain Free for Life: How to Heal Yourself Naturally Without Drugs or Surgery
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Darrell Stoddard does a fine job of explaining the Traditional Chinese Medical theory of pain to Westerners in simple Western terms. His criticisms of Allopathic (drugs and surgery) Medicine are pretty sound, as is a great deal of the health/lifestyle advice in this book. I found it curious that the glowing reviews from doctors quoted in the book don't include Chinese Medicine practitioners, but more traditional MD's and DO's. As an acupuncturist with training in Auriculotherapy (the technique Mr. Stoddard is trained in) I learned nothing from reading this book, and found the hype wearisome. However, if you don't have Chinese Medicine or Auriculotherapy training, you may learn quite a lot from this book. If you do have such training, but aren't an expert in modern toxic issues, then you may also learn something from this book.
I really appreciated Mr. Stoddard's ideas regarding some modern problems, including mineral deficiency/dehydration, aluminum toxicity and Alzheimer's, chlorine in the tap water, and other similar issues. I didn't agree with every word, but it is presented as theory rather than fact, and much of it coincides with my own discoveries in treating chemically sensitive/allergic individuals. For many, the ideas in this book would be cutting-edge and mind-expanding in a most positive way.
Mr. Stoddard's treatments involve Auriculotherapy, which requires a professional specialist to administer, and his tape invention, which anyone can do themselves. There is no substitute for a skilled practitioner in treating challenging medical problems. However, if you don't have access to such a person, or can't afford it, I expect the tape could help you help yourself. I doubt that people treating themselves would be likely to get the kind of results that are described in the case studies presented in this book. The only real advantage I can see to using the tape over being treated by a skilled professional is that you can do it yourself. This book is directed towards people who do not know about or understand Chinese Medicine or Auriculotherapy.
As in most books written by people who are not writers, the writing could be better. Occasional sentences don't actually make sense, and the overkill hyperbole only detracts from the credibility of the message. Though the book claims that addressing blockage of meridians treats the source of pain (it does), no mention is made of treating the cause of the blockage. Though he claims to be addressing the root of the problem, he is not, but at least this approach comes closer to treating the root than allopathic approaches. Despite the book's flaws, this book could be a real education for people suffering from pain.

Fix Your Own Pain Without Drugs or Surgery Review

Fix Your Own Pain Without Drugs or Surgery
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Dr. Bookspan's approach is to teach you enough about body mechanics to understand how you are supposed to fit together, then give exercise suggestions aimed at either stretching tight areas out or sliding the parts that don't fit together back into place. A major theme is letting you feel how your muscles are supposed to work via the exercises so you can correct how you hold yourself and move all the time. Jolie speaks in terms of transferring what you learn about body mechanics by exercise into lessons for everyday life. Since the body is a system where misalignment in one area can cascade into pain in other locations, the book wraps up with some sample stories of people who started with one issue and then watched things go out of control from there. It details how these patients were eventually able to wean themselves off medicine (and often various quack "cures" like bad supplements) simply by focusing on how the body should work and exercising it until everything was back in place.
I suspect that the very active nature of these suggestions will be the main problem with this book for many people. Most solutions here are in the form of things you need to do every day for some period of time, perhaps even the rest of your life, in order to adjust your body to work the way it's supposed to as we all continue to get older. There are some quick-fixes to be found in this title, but that's the exception. For example, I had been suffering for about a year with problems related to what she calls forward-neck. In literally five minutes after reading her description of the problem (as part of the extensive free information given on the author's web site) and finally understanding what had gone wrong, I slid my neck back into place using one of her suggested exercises. There was a little pop, and just like that the pain that had been haunting me for months was gone. Hasn't been back since, because now I've learned to feel when my neck is moving in the wrong direction and correct it before it gets bad again. I can assure you that her suggestions were new to me even though I'd been searching for information on this topic regularly that entire year, finding little useful advice anywhere. That was a great lesson that took only moments to learn; the rest of what I'd like to "fix...without drugs or surgery" is going to take a series of stretches performed every day for quite some time.
The bulk of the book consists of seven chapters focusing on pain in a specific area of the body: neck/upper-back, lower-back, shoulder, hip, knee, ankle/Achilles, foot, and wrist. The chapters are aimed to be self-contained, which is both good and bad. The good side is that if you have a specific pain area you want to focus on, you can dive right into that chapter and go. The main problem with this approach is that there is quite a bit of redundant content, and often the information about a specific exercise is split across several areas. This book badly needs an index. The main saving grace of the organizational issues is that the text itself is so easy and fun to read, chock full of helpful advice on every page, that you'll eventually want to read it cover to cover anyway.
Along with the exercises, you get an outline of medical issues that might be causing problems so you don't let a more serious issue go undiagnosed. As suggested by the title, the main audience that will appreciate this book are those who have already done a tour of doctors and therapists, been through enough tests to rule out major problems, and then were told that serious medication or elective surgery were the only options available. Sometimes, that's completely incorrect, and all the patient really needs is to is reverse harmful posture and movements that are the root cause of the pain--a topic most doctors are woefully under trained at giving suggestions on.
It's not a plan for couch potatoes, but it can work. As a long-time gym rat used to suffering for my gains, the thing that impresses me the most about the specific exercises advocated here is how good they feel to perform. The week I first tried Dr. Bookspan's somewhat different back extension exercises, that felt better than anything else I did that week.
Having read most of the popular titles on this subject during the two years I've been trying to correct my own pain issues, I can tell you with some authority that this book is destined to be a classic in this area. Much of the material is unique, and all of it I've tried out has been extremely helpful. The only area I'd really suggest supplementing this title's coverage with is that of multifidus training for resolving back issues. While many of the exercises here will strengthen that area, I didn't note any that taught specifically how to note weakness there and how to focus on it. Either Jim Johnson's "The Multifidus Back Pain Solution" or Rick Jemmett's "Spinal Stabilization" would make great companion volumes to this one (and reading all three books is even better), and anyone who enjoyed those two will find this one has a similar tone and approach, but with much broader coverage.
I would recommend that you check out the book's web site, try some of the exercises presented there, and see if they seem sensible and/or feel good when you try them. If you like how a subset of Dr. Jolie Bookspan's recommendations sound, I guarantee you'll love the more comprehensive treatment offered in this book.

I have Peggy Brill's other book, The Core Program and I have gotten impressive results from it. I used to get searing hip pain after doing housework or intense activities - but after working with the Core Program exercises, my hip pain is gone. So, I decided to get her new book, Instant Relief. The exercises are easy to perform and described very well. The illustrations are helpful (I would have preferred pictures, but oh well.) Most importantly, they WORK. Oddly enough, I pulled my hamstring a week after buying this book. I followed the exercises for hamstrings and the pain was gone - pronto! Thanks to Peggy Brill for another well done book!

Muscular Retraining for Pain-Free Living Review

Muscular Retraining for Pain-Free Living
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

As a massage therapist, I found Craig Williamson's book to be both absorbing and enlightening. Williamson's book reads like a novel but explains clearly how chronic pain frequently has a neuromuscular rather than a mechanical root cause. He explains that muscle tone is influenced by the nervous system, coining the term "kinesthetic dysfunction" to describe people who are unable to tell whether or not their muscles are tense or relaxed. Williamson says that the neuromuscular system may maintain the cycle of pain long after an injury should have healed. He states, "If you think of a muscle as something that is being tightened, the implication is that someone is tightening it. That someone is you, even if you are not aware of it and do not wish to do so" (p. 62). He suggests that the reasons for musculoskeletal pain--other than structural damage--include reflexive muscular reaction from an injury, dysfunctional movement patterns, poor alignment and body use, kinesthetic dysfunction, and emotions. Although most of us who provide massage therapy do not work with clients dressed and walking about the room, as Williamson does, we can derive insights from his book to aid our understanding and treatment of chronic pain. Specifically, his book reinforces us to think of ways to help our clients become more aware - kinesthetically - of their bodies and habitual movement patterns. I highly recommend this book to LMTs and others who work with people who are in pain.

Here's an innovative and practical approach to eliminating chronic muscle pain, written by a popular occupational therapist with thirty years of experience freeing people from the discomfort of tendonitis, lower back pain, and neck and shoulder tension. These types of chronic pain can be caused by a number of factors, including old injuries, habitual movement patterns, problems with body alignment, psychological causes, and inability to sense your own body movements accurately. Muscular Retraining for Pain-Free Living clearly and concisely explains the causes of persistent muscle pain and offers a therapeutic exercise program to address these problems and end pain. This book explains the basic principles behind Williamson Muscular Retraining, a pain-relief discipline, in a way that is practical and easy to understand. The problems of poor posture, muscle tension, and stress-caused pain are corrected by seeing them through the lens of kinesthetic awareness. Normal kinesthetic awareness is lacking in much of the population and typically overlooked by health care practitioners. Muscular Retraining for Pain-Free Living presents case examples of how people have used kinesthetic awareness and exercises to change how they think of their bodies and to end pain.

NeuroKinetic Therapy: An Innovative Approach to Manual Muscle Testing Review

NeuroKinetic Therapy: An Innovative Approach to Manual Muscle Testing
Average Reviews:

David Weinstock nails it with this well thought out, carefully crafted, illustrated guide to one of the most effective manual therapy techniques available today. The illustrations coupled with the muscle testing instructions make this an easy guide for applying NeuroKinetic Therapy. The author also provides descriptions couled with illustrations to the muscles, including origin, insertion, action, antagonists, and synergists. For those who are already familiar with or already use muscle testing, this manual provides a good review of muscle testing, and even shows various tests for the same muscle depending on the action being tested. David also demonstrates how to test a muscle in both a supine and prone position. NeuroKinetic Therapy is an invaluable tool for assisting the practitioner in assessing and treating various debilitating injuries, as well as optimizing athletic performance. Note: NeuroKinetic Therapy is a complex manual therapy technique which is easily explained in this manual. Although the manual is very clear in describing how to apply NKT, I strongly recommend taking the course. As with any complex modality, taking the course will provide the practitioner with a far greater understanding and depth of how and when to apply NKT that the manual simply can't.
Who needs this manual?
Massage Therapists
Physical Therapists
Chiropracrtors
Physiatrists or other Medical Doctors looking for a viable non-surgical option.

NeuroKinetic Therapy is based on the premise that when an injury has occurred, certain muscles shut down or become inhibited, forcing other muscles to become overworked. This compensation pattern can create pain or tightness. By applying light pressure that the client then resists, the practitioner can evaluate the strength or weakness of each muscle, revealing the sources of injury and retraining the client's body to remove the compensation patterns—reprogramming the body at the neural level. This easy-to-follow practitioner's manual presents a series of muscle tests specially designed to uncover and resolve compensation patterns in the body. Author David Weinstock begins by explaining how this approach stimulates the body and mind to resolve pain. Organized anatomically, each section of the book includes clear photographs demonstrating correct positioning of the muscle accompanied by concise explanations and instructions. Labeled anatomical illustrations appear at the end of each section showing the relationships between the muscles and muscle groups. This essential resource is especially useful for physical therapists, chiropractors, orthopedists, and massage therapists looking for new ways to treat underlying causes of pain.

Somatics: Reawakening The Mind's Control Of Movement, Flexibility, And Health
Average Reviews:

This book really changed my life. I used to suffer from shoulder tendinitis and other muscular ailments, but by using the material in this book I'm now 99% pain free. In addition, "Somatics" taught me about the causes and cures of muscular tension, "aging", and poor posture. By applying what I learned in "Somatics", my body has become much more supple and relaxed, making activities from walking to playing tennis to doing the dishes much more enjoyable.
But what is the catch? As Thomas Hanna explains, once you learn how your body really works, its up to you to learn how to improve its function. The bad news is that it takes time and persistance to effectively apply the knowledge in "Somatics" to your own body. The good news, however, is that by applying this knowledge you'll gain control over your own muscular (and thereby skeletal) health, now and for the rest of your life!
I also like this book because even though the material is fairly scientific, the book's occasional humor and its case study format make it an enjoyable read.

In the revolutionary Somatics, Thomas Hanna demonstrates that so many problems we accept as inevitable over time-chronic stiffness, bad back, chronic pain, fatigue, and even high blood pressure -need never occur if we maintain conscious control of nerve and muscle, a state which Hanna calls sensory-motor awareness. This gentle, lifelong program can help almost anyone maintain the pleasures of a supple, healthy body indefinitely, with only a five-minute routine once a day.

There are now (2006) four books by Pete Egoscue available: (1) "The Egoscue Method of Health Through Motion" (1992), (2) "Pain Free" (1998), (3) "Pain Free at your PC" (1999) and (4) "Pain Free for Women" (2002). If you are suffering from musculoskeletal pain and someone has recommended Egoscue to you or you are impressed with the testimonials in the Amazon reviews, you may well ask yourself, "Which book should I buy first?" Probably the second, "Pain Free" but each has its merits.
All the books are based on two generally recognized propositions: (1) in a healthy human the lines connecting the two ankles or the two knees or the two hips or the two shoulders should all be horizontal and the feet and knees should point straight forward when walking or standing without thinking about one's posture, and (2) deviations from this structure usually originate with the position of the pelvis. Trying to correct the manifestation of the misaligned pelvis will not help until the fundamental problem is fixed.
In the first book, Egoscue describes a self-diagnosis which puts you in one of four categories based largely on your posture when standing in a natural, relaxed way. Once you know your category, you turn to page 127 to find your menu of exercises. The exercises are presented in alphabetical order; you look up the exercises on your menu, learn and do them. You may need as much as 90 minutes a day or as little as 30, depending on the severity of your condition.

Of the first book, Egoscue says in the second (page 282) "[It was] a pretty ambitious theme. This one, 'Pain Free,' is more more modest." I think that means that the reader had to work harder to understand the first than the second. People in pain do not immediately know which category they fall into. But they do know where they hurt. So "Pain Free", after a brief explanation of the fundamental theory, is organized by where the pain is: feet, ankles, knees, hips, back, shoulders, arms, and neck and head. For each area, Egoscue gives exercises. Many exercises are used for more than one area, but everywhere the exercise is used, a picture of the exercise is repeated and the page number where is was described in full is given. The result is definitely easier to use. Also, there are a number of new exercises for specific problems, such as a herniated disk in the spine. Initially, your program of exercises may require 90 minutes or more, but most of the time is spent on one particular exercise. Once pain is gone for a week or more, the maintenance exercises (pages 277-282) should not take more than about 20 minutes a day.
The third book, "Pain Free at your PC" is aimed, obviously, at PC users. Egoscue distinguishes three categories, but if you use a PC more than about an hour a day, you are in the third category. Initially, you'll need 80 minutes a day at home and 5 minutes at the office, but most of that 80 minutes is on one exercise, the supine groin stretch, and the time needed for it will diminish. If you are a "power user" of the PC, you are at serious risk of developing musculoskeletal pain, not because of any problem with your PC or your chair or your desk, but because, for hours at a time, you are not moving the main muscles that hold body together and make it work. They atrophy, and problems develop. Egoscue's exercises are designed to cure or avoid those problems. If you are a heavy PC user, you could start with this one.
I have not read "Pain Free for Women" since I was clearly not in its target audience. It would be a mistake, however, for women to conclude that since this book is specifically for them the other books don't apply. Every word of the other books applies equally to men and women. This one, however, has chapters on pregnancy, childbirth, and other specifically feminine matters. For herniated disks, aching feet, and other problems common to both sexes, I would suggest "Pain Free" first.
The Egoscue book that I want to read is the one that has not been written, the one that explains Egoscue's own thinking, what each exercise does and why certain exercises should be done before others. On these questions, all the books are silent and rather dogmatic. The reader is supposed to know what the "hip flexors" are but is presumed unable to understand why one exercise should precede others. Egoscue, however, rearranges them in numerous orders. What does he know that he doesn't tell? Because of that problem, I have given the books only four stars.

I have bought several books for back pain and this is the best. He gives you straight forward advice and it works. I have had back pain for 3 years and have been to several specialist and even had a non-invasive procedure done. The surgery helped some, but still had pain after the surgery. I started doing the exercises a few weeks ago and I am doing much better. I am not 100% yet, but I am finally seeing progress. I even met with Rick using a web cam to make sure I was doing the exercises correctly. If you are planning on purchasing a book about back pain, this is the one to buy.

After living with chronic pain after a car accident over 24 years ago, I thought it was my lot in life. No amount of chiropractic, massage, yoga or pilates seemed to help. Even after meeting Dr. Rothbart and hearing him speak, I did not think his work truly pertained to me. It wasn't until I read this lucid explanation of all that pains us and what we can do about it, did I see myself as a chronic pain sufferer. I'm sure anyone in chronic pain will see themselves in this work, but they will now know without a doubt that they do not have to go through life this way.
Needless to say, I have been pain free for almost 6 months. What a relief.
