Blushing Cheeks: Volume One Review

(More customer reviews)I found Blushing Cheeks Volume One to be somewhat of a disappointment. I expected an interesting and stimulating read in the genre that was described in the blurb, but found a very bland and nearly PG-13 rated collection of three stories that were supposedly written by three different authors. The stories were so similar in the portrayal of the heroines that I had to check to see if they were actually credited to different authors. I found the heroines' submissiveness to be a bit unbelievable. The joint theme in all three stories is spanking and I found it hard to believe that these women would just allow the males in these stories to turn them over their knees and spank them as a matter of course. I allow that I am no expert in that particular area of experience, but I have read other stories involving spanking and mild BDSM that had much better premises. I guess the over all feeling I got from these stories was that the heroines had no backbone and expected to be spanked and believed they deserved it and that the males had a right to teach them lessons and decide if their behavior was appropriate or not. I think I will look for other authors in this genre that take a different approach to this concept.

This author has written some hard edged books so I was concerned as I read this book that it would be similar to 'Spoils of War' which was just unrelentingly grim and torturous. But I read through to the end and I was pleasantly surprised at the turns it takes and was satisfied with it's ending once I got there. I recommend it but only if you a) don't mind the initial grim torturousness of the heroine's captivity and b) have patience to get where it's going as I found that made the book worthwhile to me. YMMV, of course.

However, that is certainly not the entire focus of this book. Unlike the mercilessly dirty and frivolous trash-heaps like "Crimson Succubus", Talus: a Demon Story is also a bizarre phantasmagorical psychological romance of powerful effect. Though the author doesn't take flight with the story for a few thousand more pages, the character elements of this story are well developed.
A word of caution: the sezual encounters in this book can be easily labeled as "kinky" and "vile", though I think it enjoyable even with such scenes. Long story short, only approach this story if you are either horny or would like to read an excellent example of hardcore erotica.Enjoy, any who dare...

At first, the plot was really intriguing. Definitely not you your usual boy meets girl. But the more I read, the less I like the book. Reed is a dominating man, with a serious spanking fetish, and I found his character to be decently developed, but Trish fell short. It felt like she vacated the book about 2/3 of the way through. and honestly, I feel like she was a little bit abused by the end, and treated like she didn't have a mind of her own. Yes, she is submissive, but that doesn't make her a child. The author needed to give her more personality and research what it is to be a submissive. She doesn't understand that the submissive is the one in control, not the dominant.

More hard-core than other erotica books that I have read, so if this isn't your thing, read something else.
I found myself thinking about this book long after I read it. This is the first book that I have read by this author, but will not be the last.

(More customer reviews)Okay, the premise of the story is a woman is hitch-hiking her way across the US from Washington to Georgia so she can spend the winter in warmth and comfort. She gets as far as Starvation, Utah, when she runs into a paleontologist, Esben--our heroic spanking dominant, who also has a wonderful sense of humor. She takes a job digging for dinosaur bones out in the middle of the desert, which is where she gets into the most trouble. If you like your spanking stories sweet and sexy and funny as hell, then you will LOVE this story. The dialogue between the characters is wonderful. The descriptions put you right in the story. Once I started reading, I literally could not put this one down until I reached the end. It was that good.
Dr. Brimstone, the villain, was my absolute favorite character. I'm still laughing!

Some of the stories just lacked a climatic ending. Came across one story that was fantastic, involved some roleplaying and was funny and erotic. The story was leading to an amazing climatic ending when the plane the characters were on crashed and burned. Talk about a let down. Just not the spanking book for me.

I know personally I have gotten very tired of reading spanking erotica that is clearly written by someone who does not understand the kink. Well, I can tell you that Fiona Locke *gets it* (no pun intended).
Truly, I could not put this book down and reccomend it to anyone who has an interest in spanking. This has such a wide range of scenarios, I think there something in it for every person who shares the kink!
