Sheng Zhen Wuji Yuan Gong: Qigong of Unconditional Love Review

Sheng Zhen Wuji Yuan Gong: Qigong of Unconditional Love
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The book is written by the originator of this particular style of qigong, Master Li Jun Feng, and is the authoritative guide for any practitioner of Sheng Zhen Wuji Yuan Gong. It contains some background material, but is basically a 'how-to' book.
Every posture, or exercise, is described technically and is illustrated by photos of Master Li performing it. Additionally the postures has a set of contemplations that the practitioner can use to enhance the effect of the exercises. Sheng Zhen Wuji Yuan Gong is constructed as series of postures that each can take anywhere from 10 minutes to several hours to perform depending on the speed and number of repetitions of each exercise the practitioner wishes to do. There are four standing and three sitting series of postures as well as two different types of meditations that are all covered by this book.
Like any book of this kind it best serves the purpose of being a helpful additional tool and cannot fully replace the hands-on guidance of a good teacher. But as such it is excellent, with hundreds of good photos and easy-to-follow descriptions of each exercise. Any motivated qigong practitioner should be able to learn the forms from the book. Even more so if done in combination with the available videos.
The author is well known in China, as he used to be the head coach of the Beijing Wushu (martial art / kung fu) Team as well as the National Wushu Team for many years, He also starred in some Chinese martial arts movies before giving it all up to dedicate his time to develop and teach this beautiful and inspiring form of qigong.
I can personally vouch for the effectiveness of the Sheng Zhen Wuji Yuan Gong style of qigong when it comes to fulfilling the promises of Chinese energy cultivation. The exercises are easy to learn (but can be hard to master) and feel good to do. Unlike some other schools of qigong there are no stringent demands of what time of the day you should train, the cardinal directions and such. But it is no less 'serious' for that. Practicing Sheng Zhen Wuji Yuan Gong is effective for your health and well-being, and might do some very nice things for your mind and spirit as well.

Pain Free for Women: The Revolutionary Program for Ending Chronic Pain Review

Pain Free for Women: The Revolutionary Program for Ending Chronic Pain
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Over 3 years ago I had constant shoulder, back, and hip pain. I had already invested in over a dozen books and had come to the conclusion that nothing was ever going to help me - chronic pain was a part of growing older. I also had a difficult time doing the Taijiquan (a martial art) form I was working on because my back was overly curved. On the advice of a friend, I got Egoscue's first book, Pain Free.
After doing the exercises (30 minutes each day) for a few months, wonder of wonder, my curved back relaxed and I was able to sink into the Taijiquan postures I'd been trying to achieve for ten years. But best of all - the pain disappeared. For the first time in years, I didn't wake up to daily pain in my joints!!!
Unfortunately, almost a year ago, I got into a car accident that is still causing me a great deal of pain in my neck and back. I had been doing those same Pain Free exercises from before, but they didn't seem to be doing much.
I decided to purchase this newer book anyway - since it was written specifically for women. I actually didn't think it would help much and prepared myself for disappointment.
Oh MY!! After just a few weeks, once again, I was amazed at the difference. The exercises in this book (and yes, they do take much longer than the simple Pain Free book) were so helpful that I was able to change from a narcotic pain reliever to a non-narcotic pain reliever. Believe me, for someone trying to function- that is a BIG difference.
Egoscue is a genius. I have seen many doctors, including so-called pain specialists, and the only thing that has significantly helped me so far is Egoscue exercises. I now do them every day, and can feel the difference in my neck, back, shoulders, hips, knees, ankles, and feet.
Even better - this book explains in much more detail than the Pain Free book exactly what's going on in my muscles and body - so that I can really tell why the exercises are working (or not). Now that I can feel the difference, I can tell when to stop doing one phase and move on to the next.
I felt compelled to write this review because I noticed a few negative reviews. The only thing that I can postulate is that
1. The people writing were not committed to the exercises for long enough for them to work, or...
2. The people did not really have chronic pain to begin with and therefore no motivation, or....
3. The people have something personal against Peter Egoscue (I have never met him, so I wouldn't know).
All I can say is -- this book changed my life. I only wish I had read it BEFORE my accident - I suspect that I wouldn't have gotten so hurt had I been in better "functional" shape prior to getting rear-ended.
This book is about prevention, about taking control of your body and making it work the way it was designed to work. If you are a women in chronic pain - believe me - if you do these exercises, you will change your life for the better. Don't let others disuade you from doing the most that you can for yourself.

I have to say that I was extremely disappointed by this examiniation review book. Each chapter basically contains pages and pages of lists - and THAT IS ALL....if I needed a list of the rotator cuff muscles or the cranial nerves I could just as easily consult my anatomy text thank you. This review boasts 6 practice examinations, but once you have taken one of them, you have pretty much taken them all....why???...because she repeats the same questions over and over, even WITHIN THE SAME TEST!!!! This book is very poorly written and shows an overall lack of effort on the author's part. A friend who graduated a few years ago showed me his copy (a previous edition) and guess what - it included the exact same practice tests as well...looks like Ms. Meyer has been repackaging the same review book for years with no changes. Thanks for nothing....
If you want a REAL examination review, do the online review offered by the FSBPT...the same people who create the test....

The Big Penis Book 3-D Review

The Big Penis Book 3-D
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First off I have to say that the 3D effect is awesome in this book, easily one of the best books of 3D I've seen. It's a nice size (pardon) book, in good quality like Taschen does.
Also, yes, the appendages here range from a few average, to big, to oh my god, and a couple in the "No Way" range. Still not sure if the guy at the beginning with a member hanging to his knees was real!
Bad part: Ugly and/or seedy guys. OK, a FEW weren't too terrible, but many were sleazy. Many photos were from the 60s or 70s, judging by surroundings, and one nekkid guy was in an 80s Members Only (no pun) type jacket. No "big" deal with the aged photos. Most of the men were either trailer-parked looking, or young guys who'd rather do porn than get a real job! If the object was to turn on women, NOT! Most of us aren't enticed by a scuzzy guy in cowboy hat and trashy pickup truck, Colt 45 on floor, holding his wanger. Dittos for the wife-beater type flashing his stuff while flipping us off. Then there's one shot that looks like they picked up a homeless guy outside the nearest liquor shop and paid him 5 bucks to lie nude on a smelly couch. Oh, there are other ethnicities here, but they made the black men appear menacing and Latinos look like greasy "suave" stereotypes.
Anyway, yes, there are some giant tallywhackers here. And the effect is so real you'll almost smell the booze and tobacco emanating from the models! If you're just in it for the big parts, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. If you want hunks in 3D that you'll want to jump on, not really. I felt like I needed a shot of penicillin after I looked at it.
Like the cover? It's in 3D too and looks very lifelike!

Watch how they follow you around the room It's hard to imagine a book that could beat The Big Penis Bookfor grabbing attention and driving sales, unless it would be those sameunimaginably colossal generative units seen in breathtaking 3-D. Thatpop-up centerfold we joked about adding? In 3-D every page becomes apop-up! This 220-page, 30 by 30 cm special edition includes 96 images from the original book, plus 8 new bonus photos, transformedinto eye-popping 3-Dby Jon Schnitzer and The Brain Factory, the geniuses whipping upspecial effects for filmmakers such as Tim Burton. There is a revisedintroduction, new layout, and two pairs of red/blue anaglyph glasses included, so the book can be shared with a friend, or simply enjoyed alone after the first pair of glasses wears out. Unlike other 3-D pictures you may have seen, the photos in The Big Penis Book 3-Ddo not look distorted when viewed without the glasses. The BrainFactory's technique is so subtle it's hard to even detect the red/bluetint in many of the black and white photos, but when you put on yourglasses the parts of interest leap from the page, not in flat layers asin old-style 3-D, but as thick, fully rounded, touchable contours. That this is a red-hot gift book is a no-brainer. Fromthe dawn of 3-D technology, spears, sticks, guns, and rockets have beenaimed at the audience to demonstrate the realism of the effect. Thespecial effects in The Big Penis Book 3-D are no less convincing.

The Breaking of the Outer Man and the Release of the Spirit Review

The Breaking of the Outer Man and the Release of the Spirit
Average Reviews:

Unlike some people who lived it before they read it, or read it and never lived it, I had the good fortune to not have a clue about what Watchman Nee was talking about, and then finally seeing the picture for myself.
When I first started reading the book, I thought that he was just speaking out of his head. After all you don't really hear anybody speaking about this sort of thing now a days do you? Of course you don't, because a lot of ministers out there today, haven't been through the type of breaking that Watchman Nee describes in the book.
Myself among them at the time, I decided to just get it over and skim through it. And once I had left it alone, and the Lord began to work, dealing with me on some major issues, I learned that it was not my effort that counted, it was my openess to the Lord to be used as He desired.
And until I came to that point, as watchman Nee goes over in the book, of either opening up to the Lord, or being broken, I couldn't be used to do any ministry of real spiritual value. It took actually living the lesson for me to really appreciate how right on he was in this book.
Maybe when you get this book you will be like I was and think he's spouting from his mind. But let me tell you if you will accept it and ask the Holy Spirit to help you live it, it will change your life, in ministry, in relationships, and everything else. That is why I give it five stars. Not because I think it's the most well written book, but because I know from experience that what he talks about is true. And I pray that you get that revelation too.
In His Love,
RJJ

MRI Normal Variants and Pitfalls Review

MRI Normal Variants and Pitfalls
Average Reviews:

I didn't care for this book much. It strikes me as just a collection of images the authors had lying around. No real purpose or structure. To suggest that this book is about pitfalls is misleading. There's really no text to this book, just captions to pictures. So don't expect a discussion of common pitfalls and how to avoid them. This book isn't even remotely as useful as Keats, so the comparison is inaccurate in my opinion. The idea is a good one, but this book does not deliver what the title suggests.

MRI Normal Variants and Pitfalls presents over 1,800 images of normal anatomic variants, artifacts, and other features that mimic pathology on MRI scans. The book will reduce the rate of diagnostic errors by helping radiologists distinguish pathology from MRI appearances that may simulate disease.
Organized by anatomic region, the book covers the gamut of neuroradiology, breast imaging, vascular, cross-sectional, and musculoskeletal radiology. Each chapter shows examples of normal anatomy, variations, common incidental or benign conditions, and imaging features that may mimic other disease processes. Concise figure legends facilitate rapid identification of imaging characteristics. Examples of common MRI artifacts are included, with brief explanations from physicists in language understandable to radiologists.

Wow...if you like reading about Native Americans and their great Spirits and dealing with wwIII nuclear aftermath and survival with a little bit of romance this is the book for you. I felt like I was watching a movie unfold in front me as it is well written. Reviews:From the 2010 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Awards:“The strongest element of this work is the writing itself. The diction, rhythm, and syntax work effectively to evoke a sense of the time, setting, and tone of the piece as a whole. It reads smoothly, clearly, and evocatively for readers, giving us the ability to inhabit the narrative fully. It's clear that the author is in control of the intentions for this story, and so we, as readers, can trust that we are in good hands as we read." It's not the end of the world. It's the beginning. On December 29, 1890 the U.S. Calvary put a brutal end to the Ghost Dance in the Wounded Knee Massacre . Before the soldiers finished their slaughter one small boy danced a prayer to save his people and in his dying vision, reached out to the one who could lead them into a new life. It is summer 2012 and that prayer is about to be answered. Luke Kimball is The Divided Man, a global security expert who isolates himself from emotional involvement because people who get close to him end up dead. On the eve of the war that destroys the world the Ghost Dance prayer finds him, spinning the Hoop of his life in directions he could not have imagined. Claimed by the prayer, Luke is connected to past and future, chosen to be a savior of legend, a unifying force of past and future, of man and god.Luke must awaken the Sacred Tree of Life and balance the harmony between human and spirit existence or lives of all will cease to exist. Opposing him is the Manitou, an elk-headed god who has stolen Luke's soul and requires death for its return.Luke's quest takes him across a land sundered by war and on the verge of miraculous change, far into the realms of once-mythical gods and deep within him to face the demons that have haunted his life. His journey is inward as well. Luke is guided into the Spirit World and across time by Native American deities who help him discover his destiny as not only as a human savior, but as a god.

I stumbled across this novel, and thought that it had an interesting theme to it. I am a fairly open-minded person and enjoy a lot of different genres.
At first, the plot was really intriguing. Definitely not you your usual boy meets girl. But the more I read, the less I like the book. Reed is a dominating man, with a serious spanking fetish, and I found his character to be decently developed, but Trish fell short. It felt like she vacated the book about 2/3 of the way through. and honestly, I feel like she was a little bit abused by the end, and treated like she didn't have a mind of her own. Yes, she is submissive, but that doesn't make her a child. The author needed to give her more personality and research what it is to be a submissive. She doesn't understand that the submissive is the one in control, not the dominant.

Who said being a dominant Sugar Daddy was going to be easy?Self-made millionaire Reed Douglas wanted a woman in his life, but he didn't have the time for even the barest of social rituals. Tricia Barton flew down to spend some time with her cousins after the death of her mother, hoping a change of scenery would help her slough off the remnants of depression. She never expected to have her life turned upside down by her cousin's undeniably hot and very dominant boss who didn't hesitate to suggest that she let him keep her in a style to which she definitely didn't want to become accustomed. But one of the few things left out of their very special arrangement was that she ended up finding herself over his lap more often than not!

This is a good book for children of all ages. I bought this book sixteen or seventeen years ago and really enjoyed reading it to my son as well as my friends and family. Circle of Greed: The Spectacular Rise and Fall of the Lawyer Who Brought Corporate America to Its Knees Review

Circle of Greed: The Spectacular Rise and Fall of the Lawyer Who Brought Corporate America to Its Knees
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Circle of Greed provides a fascinating account of the rise and fall one of the most famous--or infamous--class action lawyers, Bill Lerach. The book has many fine qualities. First, it is very interesting reading. Lerach has lived a colorful life, and Dillon and Cannon tell a heck of a story.
Second, because Lerach was so prominent in prosecuting class actions, the book provides a concise history of many of the most important cases of fraud in the financial industry over the last several decades, a history that could not be more timely. Dillon and Cannon do a wonderful job of explaining in clear and accessible terms some of the shenanigans in which corporate America has engaged. Those descriptions by themselves justify the price of the book.
Third, Circle of Greed offers a balanced account of class actions and their virtues and vices as a means of achieving justice. Lerach himself appears as a complicated character: a true believer who was so committed to his cause--and to winning--that he was willing to bend and even break the rules, leading to his incarceration.
As a law professor, I teach about and study class actions and complex litigation. Over the years I have learned that people's ideological commitments tend to shape their views of class action litigation rather than the other way around. As a result, Circle of Greed is likely to be a Rorschach test. Those who hate class actions may object that Dillon and Cannon fail to condemn Lerach in clear enough terms. Those who are enamored with class actions may think Dillon and Cannon were too tough on Lerach--or should have chosen a more sympathetic subject, a class action lawyer who acted more ethically. But those who read Circle of Greed with an open mind may learn a little bit about one man's story, as well as a bit about the strengths and weaknesses of class litigation. Dillon and Cannon just provide the facts. The reader has to decide what to do with them.

And Then the Roof Caved In: How Wall Street's Greed and Stupidity Brought Capitalism to Its Knees Review

And Then the Roof Caved In: How Wall Street's Greed and Stupidity Brought Capitalism to Its Knees
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
David Faber's new book, "And The The Roof Caved In," hit The New York Times best seller list for the first time this week. It debuted at an impressive #10.
I enjoyed the book. It's an easy read which, given the subject -- the credit and financial crises -- is not an easy thing to do. Given that his day job is a reporter for CNBC, Faber gets credit for not pulling too many punches when it comes to Wall Street. My guess is that the book's subtitle, How Wall Street's Greed And Stupidity Brought Capitalism To Its Knees, gave some of Faber's CNBC colleagues and the people he reports on a serious case of heartburn.
But saying I enjoyed Faber's book and recommending it to others are two different things. The book is based on a 90 minute program -- "House of Cards" -- CNBC first aired in February. The book reads like a TV script (try to imagine Faber doing the voice over with the text of his book) with short chapters that appear to mimic the segments in the show. The still pictures in the book are from the program. And while the book does goes into more detail on some subjects than the program (after all, it doesn't have moving pictures to tell stories), it's still largely at TV-audience depth, that is to say at or just slightly below the surface.
I watched "House of Cards" again after reading the book and reconfirmed my initial thought that, instead of buying the book, you'd learn just about as much by watching it for free on Hulu or paying $4.99 to download it on iTunes. It's good TV and well worth the 90 minutes it will take to watch in it's entirety.
If you prefer reading to watching, try William Cohan's "House of Cards" --same title as the CNBC program but much richer content.

CNBC's David Faber takes an in-depth look at the causes and consequences of the recent financial collapse
And Then the Roof Caved In lays bare the truth of the credit crisis, whose defining emotion at every turn has been greed, and whose defining failure is the complicity of the U.S. government in letting that greed rule the day. Written by CNBC's David Faber, this book painstakingly details the truth of what really happened with compelling characters who offer their first-hand accounts of what they did and why they did it.
Page by page, Faber explains the events of the previous seven years that planted the seeds for the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. He begins in 2001, when the Federal Reserve embarked on an unprecedented effort to help the economy recover from the attacks of 9/11 by sending interest rates to all time lows. Faber also gives you an up-close look at where the crisis was incubated and unleashed upon the world-Wall Street-and introduces you to insiders from investment banks and mortgage lenders to ratings agencies, that unwittingly conspired to insure lending standards were abandoned in the head long rush for profits.
