I'm sorry to give this book such a low rating, but it does not at all fulfill its "creaky knees" walks promise. In fact, one of the walks it recommends is one of the toughest in the area and, besides that, has a road available to drive to the top in place of the walk! It constantly comments that a walk is "tough on knees" - so why is it included in the book then? I am very disappointed, and didn't find many new places to walk without considerable impact on the knees.

For the aging baby boomer who likes to walk but not too much, this day-hiking guide is filled with kinder, gentler trails throughout Washington State. The book's 100 trails are divided into 11 regions, including the Olympic Peninsula, Mount Rainier National Park, and Southeastern Washington. There's also a section on urban strolls. Each trail is profiled with elevation gains (including a topographical map); photographs; current driving directions; mileage and estimated hiking time; trail conditions; effort level; exploring options; best season; map references; permits required; and more. This guide is useful not only for boomers and seniors but for families with small children, people who are less physically inclined, and travelers with just a few extra hours available. Ideal for older hikers, it's the perfect resource for those who want to explore this beautiful region without breaking too much of a sweat.
