This book is hardly recomended anymore because the latest edition is over ten years old. The book is very easy to read, which is its best attribute. It covers both general and regional orthopaedic, but fails to go in any depths in either areas. Some of the themes covered seems quite random, and the treatment selected is outdated at times.
The book is unnecessary for students, as it doesn't offer answers to the (few) questions one might have while preparing for the finals. It is likewise unnecessary for the resident because it is too superficial and too random in its choice of themes. The second star is because it is so easy to read, you finnish it in a couple of days (mainly beacause most of the information is already known to you). You'd be better off with a different book (Ronald McRaes Practical Fracture Treatment, for instant).

This new edition has been completely rewritten to reflect the changes in the speciality and is now extensively illustrated in color. The text is more punchy and boxed information has been highlighted for easier access. The sections on trauma, in particular, have been expanded.
