Ms. Bryson's book is a quick read (61 pages with large font), and by the end of it, I felt I knew a lot more about her life than about knee replacements. She spends a lot of time talking about her children and her job and (oddly) her shower schedule, but she glosses over a lot of the important details relating to the procedure. She mentions that she was put on beta-blockers, and says "I'm not really sure why I had to take this medication" (not helpful); she dedicates all of one sentence to the surgery itself ("Surgery went well"); in the page dedicated to her rehab hospital, she didn't mention any of the physical therapy or medical care she received there, and instead focused on the snacks her children brought her while she stayed there. The book has some helpful hints and tips for knee replacement patients, but don't expect a comprehensive guide to the process so much as a highly subjective and personally focused journal.
