Why are none of the people who claim relationship to Chief Spotted Elk, not actually named Spotted Elk? The author needs to seriously fact-check before printing such a book and passing it off as history.
Even such a claim as on page 18 where he states "While in Washington, Big Foot had a picture taken of himself and this is the only one in existence" is ridiculous. The author might have started his research by contacting the actual family and not those who passed themselves off as such.
On page 83 is another blatant example: Why is Chief Standing Bear listed among the names of those who were killed at Wounded Knee? Supposedly in the early 20's he asked Korczak to make a memorial (Crazy Horse) honoring native Americans in the Black Hills. If he was among those killed in 1890, that is a pretty incredible feat.
It was Chief Spotted Elk and he has a living descendant who is not listed in this book. There many inaccuracies in this book which need to be corrected due to the important nature of this part of history.
Do yourself a favor and do not buy this book. You're wasting your money and time.
